Q1 What kind of organization is the Kurashiki International Association?　

A1 The Kurashiki International Association (KIA) is an all volunteer organization that was established in 2002 in order to promote and encourage international exchange, cooperation and contributions to international society among Kurashiki citizens. Currently,the KIA has almost 250 individual members and 60 group members. The KIA sponsors and supports various activities and programs related to international exchange, cooperation and contribution such as exchanges between Kurashiki and her sister cities, the Kurashiki International Friendship Festival and various lectures on international understanding.

Q2 Who may become a member of the KIA?

A2 Anyone, including non Japanese, interested in international exchange, international cooperation and international contribution is welcome to become a member.

Q3 What kind of benefits do members of the KIA receive?

A3 Members of the KIA receive direct mailing of the KIA newsletter, “Tierra”, along with other direct mailings regarding upcoming KIA sponsored events and activities. Members also receive reduced fee or free entry to all KIA sponsored lectures and talks.

Q4 Is there a membership free?

A4 Membership costs 2000 yen per year for an individual and 5000 yen per year for a group or organization. The membership year begins on April 1 and lasts until March 31 of the following year.

Q5 How do I apply?

A5 Requests for application materials can be made by either phone or email. Please contact the KIA Business Office at 086-426-3015 for more information. Completed applications are accepted by regular mail, fax, or may be submitted in person. Payment of membership fees can be made either in person of by post office money transfer.

Q6 Where is the KIA Business Office located? What are its business hours?

A6 The KIA Business Office is located on the fourth floor of Kurashiki City Hall in the Kurashiki City International Affairs Office. The business hours of the KIA Business Office are Monday through Friday,9 am to 5.15 pm. The Business Office is closed on days that City Hall is closed.
