I feel in Christchurch

This was my first time to go to Christchurch, and abroad. I had a lot of experience and discovery in this trip. I want to introduce about two things in this trip.
First is about life of school. I went to Villa Maria Collage which is girls school.
I was surprised to take lessons with them PC. They logged in their own site and wrote down notes or do their homework on it. Naturally, they had a lesson which use a textbook and a notebook, but it is only math lesson. They usually use them PC in other lessons. I thought this is a new experience because I cannot see the sight like this in Japan.

I was more surprised at the situation of class. Many people spoke actively. For example, answering teacher’s questions and asking teacher a question. Also, some people was drinking water, eating some food and listening to music on their PC. I thought this is a different from Japan because mood of class was freedom.

Second is about life of home. I felt my host family’s neighbors were very friendly. I had a chance to visit two their neighbors’ house with my buddy. Both neighbors were very friendly. So I can talk with them. Also, their neighbors gave them some sweets and they brought their neighbors some dishes. So I felt their connect was very strong.

I also have an invaluable experience. For example, we rode a jet boat. It was very exciting because we can feel a cool breeze. We went to Christchurch during the winter. So it was a little cold but fun. Also we can see kiwi. We saw some kiwi in Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. There are many kind of birds and domestic animals. We saw them. And finally we arrived the area which we can see kiwi. But kiwi is nocturnal animals so maybe we cannot see them. We had a luck. We can see many moving kiwi. We were very happy.
I also have many fun experience. I want to talk my family and friends this experience. Then I want many people know Christchurch has many good places and very kind people. And in the future, I want to go to Christchurch again.

クライストチャーチに行って思ったこと

私は今回、姉妹都市訪問青少年生活体験団を通して、初めてクライストチャーチ、そして海外に行きました。知らない土地での新しい発見や経験は、数え切れないほどたくさんありました。その中で、特に印象に残ったことを2つ紹介しようと思います。

　１つ目は学校生活について。私は Villa Maria Collage という女子校に通わせていただきました。
　行って最初に驚いたのは、みんなパソコンを使って授業を受けていること。学校の自分のページにログインして、ノートをとったり、宿題をしたりしていました。もちろん、教科書とノートを使って受ける授業もありましたが、私が見た中ではそれは数学の時間だけで、英語や理科、社会などの授業は、主にパソコンを利用していました。日本の学校ではなかなか見ない光景だったので、新鮮でした。

　もっと驚いたのは授業中のクラスの様子です。先生の質問に答えたり、質問したりと、授業内で活発に発言している子がとても多かったです。一言も発していない人は、ほぼゼロだと思います。しかし、真面目な人が多い、と思いきや、授業中に飲み物を飲んだり、お菓子を食べたり、パソコンで音楽を聴いたり、スマホでSNSをしたりなど、日本と違い、とても自由な雰囲気で、みんなで歌を歌ってみたり、おしゃべりしてみたりと、すごく楽しそうでした。

　２つ目は生活の様子について。特に感じたのは、ご近所付き合いが多い、ということです。私はホームステイしている間に、右隣と左隣の家両方をバディと一緒に訪ねる機会がありました。どちらの家の人もとてもフレンドリーで、初めて訪ねた私にいろいろな話をしてくださったり、お茶やお菓子を出したりしてくれました。また、バディの家からも料理を持っていったりするなど、結びつきがとても強いんだな、と感じさせられました。

　クライストチャーチでは他にも、ジェットボードに乗ったり、キウイを見たりと、とても貴重な体験ができました。ここでの経験を生かして、これからも海外の人と積極的に交流して行きたいと思います。
